Singapore, January 25 2012 – OpenNet is proud to announce the 100,000th fibre subscriber, reflecting increased interest amongst households to “fibre up” and get onboard Singapore’s nationwide optical fibre network.
With optical fibre ultra-high-speed broadband network of speeds of 1Gbps and above, fibre broadband connections are benefiting users in their daily usage of Internet in more ways than one. Homeowners can enjoy a richer broadband experience with more choices from Retail Service Providers at affordable prices and better value.
One such customer is Mr Tan Kheng Leong from Choa Chu Kang Crescent. The Tan family applied for fibre broadband service on 21 December 2011 and their fibre connection was turned on 5 January 2012 making Mr Tan the 100,000th fibre subscriber. Mr Tan says “I’m glad that getting onboard the fibre network has been a fruitful one for our family, especially for our daughter. She can see a significant difference in fibre broadband performance,” he said.
Mr Tan’s daughter, Ms Jaslyn Tan, a 22-year-old local University Student, says, “As the main Internet user at home, I am glad to have made the switch from ADSL to fibre broadband. The almost seamless fibre broadband connection when I’m downloading huge files from school, streaming of my favourite movies, drama serials and playing online games just makes things better.”
OpenNet’s Director of Projects, Mr Tiong Onn Seng says, “We are heartened to see the robust take-up of optical fibre broadband service. A speedy fibre broadband connection just adds so much convenience to our daily lives.”
“Building Singapore’s brand new national fibre optic infrastructure is a challenging project given the scale of this massive roll-out. As OpenNet completes the initial rollout of the optical fibre network, it is rewarding to see take-up of the network and the fibre experience making a real difference to homes like the Tan family’s. We are committed to supporting continued growth as OpenNet’s network passes 95% of Singapore homes later this year,” commented OpenNet’s Director of Business Development and Communications, Mr Daniel Ho.
