As a homeowner of Landed Property, how will the optical fibre will reach my home?
For landed properties, the optical cable will be installed via SingTel’s existing underground pipe. This can be found running along the pavement and/or carriageway outside your house. If you do not have this, you will need to provide an underground pipe. Before installing the cable, OpenNet’s contractor will test the underground pipe to ensure that it is not choked.
If the pipe blockage occurs within your compound
If the pipe within a compound is choked, it is the homeowner’s responsibility to engage a contractor to clear it. As the pipe is buried underground, OpenNet’s contractor can only give an approximation of where the choke is located and will not be held liable if the area is not as approximated. You will need to hire a contractor to clear the choke within 1 month from your initial appointment. Once the choke is cleared, you will need to reschedule an appointment with OpenNet’s contractor to complete the installation.
Alternatively, OpenNet’s contractor can also install the fibre cable via surface conduit from the gate post or point of entry into your home.
If you opt for the surface conduit installation method, you will need to schedule an appointment with OpenNet’s contractor within 2 weeks of your original appointment otherwise your appointment will be cancelled. Any subsequent installation requests will be charged a fee.
If the pipe blockage occurs outside your compound
If the choke occurs outside your compound, OpenNet’s contractor will submit the permits needed to clear the choke to the relevant authorities. Please note that this process can take 1-3 months. Once the permits have been approved, OpenNet’s contractor will contact you within 1 month to carry out the installation.
If the pipe blockage occurs within and outside your compound
If there are chokes within and outside your compound, you will need to clear the one within your compound first. Once the internal choke is cleared, please inform OpenNet’s contractor so that we can apply for the permits needed to clear the choke outside your house. Once the application is approved, OpenNet’s contractor will contact you within 1 month to schedule the installation.
